Defamation case against “Slumdog Millionaire”


Defamation case against “Slumdog Millionaire”, People against “Slumdog Millionaire”, “Slumdog Millionaire” Latest News,Action against “Slumdog Millionaire”, “Slumdog Crorepati” releasing in India, “Slumdog Millionaire” receives bad reactions in India,Amitabh Bachchan against “Slumdog Millionaire”.

Even after winning hearts of foreigners and winning International awards, “Slumdog Millionaire” is been criticized in the country that has been portrayed in it. A slum dweller association has filed a defamation case against this Hollywood movie starring Bollywood actors.

This association has filed a defamation case against the film’s music director A R Rehman and actor Anil Kapoor for hurting the sentiments and feelings of slum dwellers of India. Tapeshwar Vishwakarma, general secretary of Slum dwellers Joint Action Committee has filed a case against “Slumdog Millionaire” for a hearing on February 5th, 2009.

Vishwakarma in his report has said that the movie depicts slum dwellers of India in very derogatory way. Indians in this movie are referred to as dogs, which is indeed very derogatory and a violation of human rights and humor.

“Slumdog Millionaire” is a movie that is yet to be released in Hindi as “Slumdog Crorepati” on January 23rd, 2009. This movie has won four Golden Globe Awards and has been nominated for 11 BAFTAs, but still it has not made place in the hearts of Indians be it Amitabh Bachchan or slum dweller authorities.

I have seen both the versions. I like the music of this movie very much. A R Rehman had done a great job. I like two music tracks of this movie very much.
